"One Sunny Day"
by Eric von Bayer
One sunny day I lay alone;
staring distantly, long in thought.
Pondering over simple things,
without which life is sadly naught.
Wondering where my life would go.
Examining the endless horizons
that were mine to know.
The sun shone down
on my welcoming face,
A purity of light
within my heart embraced.
The warmth that illuminated
my vivid life,
had I ignored it in ignorant crime?
But as with all things
of beauty and love,
they are but common
without the cold darkness.
Alas, the searing memory
of light shines on inside my soul.
Leaving a warm emptiness,
waiting... longing... for you.
